Voz de origen neerlandés, incorporada al español a través del inglés, que significa ‘gran masa de hielo que flota en el mar’. Su plural es icebergs ( plural, 1j): «El océano Ártico no tenía icebergs» (Ayllón Meteorología [Méx. 1996]). En España es extranjerismo totalmente integrado, ya que la grafía inglesa se pronuncia a la española: [izebérg] o, en zonas de seseo, [isebérg]. En cambio, en el español de América está consolidada la pronunciación inglesa [áisberg].
