1. Voz inglesa que se emplea ocasionalmente en español con el sentido de ‘canción, disco, libro, etc., de gran éxito popular’. Su uso es innecesario, ya que puede sustituirse por la expresión española (gran) éxito: «Un texto muy afortunado [...] con todos los números para convertirse en un gran éxito popular» (Vanguardia [Esp.] 17.6.94). La expresión inglesa hit parade es equivalente, en español, a lista de éxitos: «La novela encabeza la lista de éxitos en la Feria del Libro de Madrid» (País [Esp.] 2.6.89).
2. En el béisbol, ‘tiro que no es interceptado por la defensa del equipo contrario y permite al bateador alcanzar una base’. Con este sentido se recomienda su adaptación al español en la forma jit (pl. jits; plural, 1h), grafía que se documenta ya en la prensa mexicana: «Todos los jugadores de los Dodgers batearon al menos un jit» (DYucatán [Méx.] 1.9.96).
